2018 Garden, Day 9: Rachel Makes Fermented Weed Tea

Today Rachel demonstrates how to make a fermented plant juice compost tea with Gliricidia sepium, plus we have a surprise in the garden.

Any nitrogen-fixer is likely to make a good high-nitrogen homemade fertilizer. Throw it in a barrel and let it rot down. Voila! Weed tea! Feel free to throw in all sorts of plants, including whatever you find growing in your garden without permission. You can so something similar with comfrey, moringa, Tithonia and even grass. Take the hard work those plants did gathering minerals, then let it rot down and become food for your garden. Call it compost tea, fermented plant juice, or fetid swamp water – it all works.
